GED requirements in Pakistan: the complete checklist
Everything you need to qualify for and complete the GED in Pakistan, gathered into one checklist — age, prior schooling, documents, and the IBCC conditions that matter for local equivalence.
1. Age requirements
The standard minimum age is 18, with no upper limit — it's never too late. Students aged 16 or 17 can qualify through an official age-waiver process.
2. Prior schooling
You need Matric or O-Levels before the GED. It sits on top of secondary school and doesn't replace it — this is a hard prerequisite for the local equivalence route.
3. The IBCC equivalence conditions (for local admission)
To use the GED for a Pakistani university, you'll apply to the IBCC for HSSC (Humanities) equivalence, which brings its own conditions — most notably a minimum two-year gapbetween your SSC/equivalent and your GED diploma, with the GED taken through an approved study centre. 4. Documents to prepare
- Your Matric / O-Levels certificate or result.
- CNIC / B-Form for age verification (and for the age waiver, if 16–17).
- Later, your GED diploma and transcript for the equivalence application.
- Your verified SSC / equivalent for the IBCC.
5. Preparation requirement
